59 Chinese Apps Banned By India including TikTok

Indian government decide to ban Chinese apps amid Sino-Indian border skirmish

The Centre government has blocked 59 Chinese apps with their links that included the popular TikTok, WeChat and UC Browser etc, banning Chinese Apps Banned By India amid a huge economic boycott against China following the June 15 clashes at Galwan valley in which 20 Indian soldiers martyred in action. Various inputs from intelligence agencies said that the apps have been violating the terms and conditions of usage, compromising users and their privacy, and being used as spyware or malware for spying the personal data. After few minutes of the announcement, the Indian government’s TikTok and other account MyGov, which had 1.1 million followers within india and abroad , has been disabled.

The move comes a day after PM Modi said India has given a “befitting response in every terms” to China. He also spoke of the countrywide call for boycott of Chinese goods and services , after posting it against the government’s “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” campaign. “We will buy local and be vocal for local and this will help India become stronger and growth full,” he said.

In a statement this evening, the government officials has said the apps were blocked “in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty , security and integrity of Nation, of state and public order.” which leads to Chinese Apps Banned By India.

For safety, security, defence, sovereignty & integrity of India and to protect data & privacy of people of India the Government has banned 59 mobile apps.

The ministry said that it is also received representations from people on “security of data and risk to their personal privacy” regarding certain apps.

“The compilation of these data, its mining and use to national security and defense of India, which ultimately leads to sovereignty and integrity of Nation , is a matter of very deep and immediate and concern which requires emergency measures at once . At the same time, there have been raging concerns on aspects relating to data breaching and security safeguarding the privacy of 130 crore Indians,” said the release.

The move comes in between a countrywide call from traders and civil society of various business organisations to boycott Chinese products and services after the June 15 clashes. The government had chopped in with a bar on Chinese equipments for the 4G upgradations of the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and sacking of a Chinese firm that had a Rs 471-crore railways contract also get cancelled.
